**Overview**
We are looking for a Safety and Facility Supervisor to manage our 14,000 square foot test and assembly facility. Reporting to Director of Stack Design, this position will take significant responsibility in ensuring the facility is safe, functional and organized.
**Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Support the JOH&S committee through leading the review process, execution and track keeping of all safety related policies, procedures and documentation.
- Work with Engineering Team Leads to plan equipment purchases and facility upgrades.
- Support the Engineering Team with planning and layout of ongoing lab and prototyping requirements.
- Identify and procures equipment, fixtures, tools, and furniture as needed to provide the necessary functionality of the lab and pilot manufacturing facility.
- Provide advice, information and support to the Senior Management Team with respect to facilities and pilot production related issues.
- Inspect facilities including fixtures, labs and offices on a regular basis addressing deficiencies.
- Provide minor building, electrical, plumbing and equipment repair services to ensure the optimum functioning of the facility and the equipment.
- Support coordination of ongoing renovations of the warehouse and office spaces.
- Communicate and negotiate with trades to maintain and upgrade functionality of the facility.
- Support ERP system implementation and operation.
- Direct mechanical assembly and fabrication of test systems for various groups, including rotary machines, plastic piping assemblies, Unistrut structures.
- Maintain equipment calibration program.
- Support inventory management and parts shipping and receiving.
- Support coordination of moving of equipment and inventory to our new facility.
- Rigorously adheres to safety and environmental procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Minimum Qualifications**
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a production/operation role.
- Operations Management Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior production supervision experience is an asset.
- Very hands-on and good mechanical aptitude.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs.
- Good working knowledge of computers is required as is proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Good organizational skills.
- The ability to wear multiple hats and help where there is a need.
- Must be fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working around hazardous chemicals.
- Must have a valid BC driver’s license.
- Must have valid counterbalance forklift certificate.
**Desirable Experience and skills**:
- Previous experience in a product development environment.
- An interest in building and fabricating prototypes from various materials.
- Ability to work from engineering drawings, BOMs and P&IDs and follow work instructions.
- Experience with parts receiving, part inspections and inventory control would be an asset.
- Experience working around hazardous materials.
