**Position Type**: Full time - 40 hours per week.

**Salary**: $23.00 - $28.00 an hour based on experience.

**Job Summary**:
In this highly confidential and specialized role, the Accounting Clerk will be responsible for the efficient, accurate, and timely processing of accounts receivable and payroll transactions. The Accounting Clerk will report to the Financial Controller and work in collaboration with Human Resources and Finance teams to innovate and improve current processes, while responding to inquiries and requests from funders and suppliers. In addition, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for supporting the day-to-day duties of the finance department ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner.

**Responsibilities**:
Payroll

Compile and review timesheets and ensure payroll data is entered correctly into Payworks for direct deposit payments

Complete mandatory payroll, tax, WorkSafeBC remittances and related documentation including ROEs, T4s, T4As: monthly quarterly, and annually as per requirements

Provide monthly reports to the Executive Director and Director of Operations with a breakdown of payroll spent from projects

Manage all other aspects of payroll as required

Finance Administration

Prepare cheques, obtaining signatures, and releasing cheques for payment

Setup EFT payments

Process accounts receivable invoices and receipts

Monitor outstanding accounts receivable for collection and collectability

Assist the Financial Controller with preparing budgets and final grant financial reporting

Assist with month-end and year-end close

Maintain the QuickBooks system and Chart of Accounts to account for financial transactions under the guidance of the Financial Controller

Assist the Controller with audit preparation

Respond to supplier and/or purchaser concerns in a timely and courteous manner

Support the preparation of GST rebate reports (involves taking excel spreadsheets and adding up the GST from various projects and filling out a form)

Support the maintenance of filing systems for cheque requests and credit cards (sort by various projects)

Vendor Account Reconciliation

Ensure login and payment info is up to date and working for all vendors and process vendor receipts and invoices and required

**Required Qualifications and Education**:
A Business Administration degree with a focus in accounting or an accounting diploma

Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in payroll processing

Demonstrated related experience with accounts receivable processes

Experience working with QuickBooks Online (adapted for a Non-Profit)

Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is considered an asset

Knowledge and previous experience working with Payworks is considered an asset

**Required Skills and Abilities**:
Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with interruptions and without sacrificing accuracy and attention to detail

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Sound analytical and problem-solving skills along with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office

Understanding and respect for confidential information

Ability to work in a changing environment under time constraints

Knowledge of non-profit organizations and B.C. legislation as it relates to employees, employers, and payroll and the Employment Standards Act
