**Full Job Description**

Capital Paving Inc is a heavy civil road construction company working predominantly in the Region of Waterloo / County of Wellington area. Capital is looking for a dedicated individual to join our team. If you have experience in the construction industry with a solid knowledge about current health and safety legislation and guidelines, please apply This position reports directly to the Health and Safety and Risk Manager and is available immediately.

**Salary**:dependent on experience

**Benefits**:Available after probationary period.

**Responsibilities**
- Responsible for managing and completing Capital’s existing COR program including submission, internal audit and working with external auditors.
- Risk Management inspections and training
- Participate in all safety investigations
- Attend JHSC meetings
- Review and update H&S policies annually
- Schedule and oversee fire extinguisher annual inspections and first aid kit quarterly inspections
- Oversee paperwork tracking - daily safety talks, supervisor weekly inspections, near miss reports, incident reports, first aid reports etc.
- Encourage and promote health and safety on job sites, in the shop and in the office
- Participate in any potential WSIB claims and return to work program
- Communicate with the MOL as a company representative when required
- Keep employee training documentation up to date
- Schedule or facilitate appropriate H&S training courses
- Act as a point of contact for employee and management H&S concerns

**Desired Skills and Experience**
- **Minimum 2-4 years of professional Health and Safety experience**:

- **Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry**:

- **Education in Occupational Health and Safety is preferred**:

- Sound understanding of current OHSA legislation
- Solid understanding of various construction tasks, tools and equipment as it related to health and safety best practices
- Must be a highly effective and confident communicator, both written and verbal
- Proficient with computers (Microsoft Office)
- Strong understanding of the COR process
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be safety conscious
- Legal right to work in Canada
