**Job Purpose**

The Manager of Language Programs is responsible for supporting the Director in managing the LINC program by fostering effective relationships with instructors, support staff, and students, both within and outside the classroom environment. This role utilizes productive supervisory and excellent communication skills to maintain a client-centred environment that respects the diversity of staff and students, encourages the successful integration of newcomers to Canada, and consistently exceeds contract agreement requirements. This role reports to the Director of Language Programs.

**Key Result Areas (KRAs)**_**Pending funding approval**_
- Effectively manages instructor recruitment, scheduling, mentoring, and ongoing evaluation.
- Ensures teaching practices, curriculum, and components are aligned with Canadian Language Benchmarks CLB) and Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) requirements using student feedback, direct observation, regular review of individual theme/module reports, and student binders.
- Collaborates with the program coordinators to accurately monitor, evaluate, and report on waiting lists, client intake, attendance, withdrawals, and client progress as outlined in agreements.
- Makes or recommends adjustments to waiting lists, intake, attendance, withdrawals, and progress processes.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with internal stakeholders, including agency staff and volunteers, and external stakeholders, such as CLARC, other LINC program providers, and settlement organizations.
- Monitors and tracks program deliverables, ensuring contract obligations are completed successfully.
- Writes program reports, and assists with proposal writing and program budget tracking.

**Qualifications**

**Service Orientation**: Cultural sensitivity and experience related to teaching adults in an English as an Additional Language classroom context; Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence;
**Education**: Degree in Teaching English as a Second/Additional Language, Linguistics, Education, or a related field; specific courses or professional development related to teaching EAL and EAL methodology, Canadian Language Benchmarks and Portfolio-Based Language Assessment, master’s or higher preferred.

**Technical**: Full computer literacy skills; demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office program.

**Supervisory/Teamwork**: A minimum of two years of management experience is an asset; Pro-actively collaborates with supervisory colleagues to share ideas, concerns, and solutions; proven ability to mentor instructors to address weak skill areas or gaps and commend strengths.

**Communication**: Effectively listens to client and staff needs; communicates clearly and consistently orally and in writing to address the expressed needs.

**Other**: A valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle are preferred.

**Working conditions**
- Office/classroom environment: Work schedules are usually on Mondays to Fridays, 9:00am to 5:00pm; Some evening and weekend shifts may be required.
- Capability to visit various program locations if required

1 temporary FTE (37.5 hours per week)
