**Job Summary**
- The Communications, Marketing and Creative Services (CMC) team is responsible for stewarding and enhancing the reputation and awareness of Dalhousie University through brand leadership, communications, marketing, public relations, community and stakeholder engagement, creative services, media relations, issues management and crisis communications. Reporting to the Associate Director, Community Engagement and Strategic Initiatives, the Community Engagement Manager will design, execute and evaluate a comprehensive and socially-innovative community and stakeholder engagement program that supports a strong culture of engagement across Dalhousie University and that is experienced positively by stakeholders.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Enhance Dalhousie’s contacts and visibility within the local community and targeted regional communities/provinces. Design and manage various online tools and tactics that build and nurture meaningful external partner relationships. Ensure appropriate and timely communication with community members on issues.
- Foster a culture of engagement across Dalhousie through strategic advice, collaborative frameworks, community consultations, projects, and relationship building. Lead activities, strategies and tactics that engage our campus community with internal and external groups and partners.
- Work closely with the Associate Director to set strategic direction in of support Dalhousie’s overall community and community engagement initiatives. Manage identified strategies, planning, and implementation including** **developing timelines, metrics, budgets and deliverables.
- Serve as a lead member of the team designing a new web-based community portal for the University, including overseeing all website content and updates related to community engagement and social impact at Dalhousie.
- Manage pertinent communications collateral and storytelling. This includes but is not limited to overseeing the production of Dalhousie’s annual Community Report; the annual Community Calendar; and regular Community Updates including distribution to community members.
- Design and deliver an annual suite of events and outward facing initiatives that fulfil Dalhousie’s civic university objectives and meet communities where they are. Create and oversee budgets and timelines. Manage external vendors and build smooth and reliable relationships.

**Note**
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Dalhousie’s vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary.

**Required Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in related field (e.g. Public Relations, Communications, Planning, Business, Arts, Community Development, Social Sciences) plus a minimum of five years direct or related experience in community engagement and/or organizational social responsibility (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Extensive experience in organizing community and stakeholder consultations/community engagement.
- Strong background in understanding of local and community issues and process.
- Proven experience in establishing, developing and maintaining long-term supportive relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with people of different backgrounds and expertise.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing innovative and creative policies, programs and initiatives.
