**Description:
**Under the supervision of the manager, your main responsibilities are to offer accounting support to the Federation cooperatives as well as analyze, prepare and present the financial statements to the cooperative board of directors.
**Responsabilities**:
- Prepare financial statements according to generally accepted accounting principles and the Quebec Cooperative Act and produce any other type of financial reports, as required;
- Travel to the co-ops to present the yearly financial to the Board of Directors statements and suggest a return to members;
- Analyze ledger accounts and make the necessary adjustments;
- Prepare the year-end file for external auditors;
- Provide accounting support to the co-op staff and participate in the development of training sessions for them;
- Produce brief financial analyses with ratios and explain variances with the budget and previous year results;
- Occasionally provide support the co-op General Managers in their management tasks;
- Supervise and participate in the physical inventory at the co-op stores and warehouses;
- Participate in the development of new accounting procedures;
- Ensure that accounting procedures are being followed and report any discrepancies ;
- Travel to the co-ops to provide accounting assistance that cannot be done from the Montreal office;
- Handle any other related tasks requested by the manager or to support the cooperatives and their staff.
**Requirements**:
- University degree in Accounting;
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office;
- Able to communicate both verbally and written in French and in English;
- Versatile, team worker, organized and methodical;
- Very autonomous.
**Note:
**WORK CONDITIONS**
- Willing to travel occasionally to Nunavik (~6 weeks per year).
