**Job Summary**
The dispatcher position is responsible for coordinating the transportation of goods in both the energy and agriculture sectors while ensuring timely and efficient delivery of those goods. This position requires strong communication skills, proficient data entry, and familiarity with transportation management systems. If you have experience with shipping, receiving, freight management, or heavy haul, we encourage you to apply.
The position requires 24 hour on call basis working weekdays, on call on weekends, and holidays on a 10 & 4 schedule. Black Hand Transport offers competitive wages, benefits with an enjoyable and inclusive working environment.
- Minimum 4 years dispatching experience preferred
- Strong communication, organizational and problem solving skills
- A positive attitude and the ability to work independently or with a team
- Experience in the energy sector trucking industry an asset
- Mechanical background/knowledge of commercial vehicles an asset
- Strong computer skills Microsoft suite and GPS systems and maps
- Understanding of NSC HoS regulations and standards
- Punctual and reliable is a key requirement to this position
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Class 1 License preferred

- Identifying, developing, and maintaining transportation business opportunities
**Duties**:
- Take calls on 24 hour basis and document hauling requirements accurately and professionally
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with professional phone etiquette
- Coordinate and schedule deliveries of projects day & night shifts driver’s
- Provide informed directions with specific instructions for drivers, & contractors for pickup & deliveries
- Monitoring driver's working hours and equipment availability (resets, days off)
- Provide continuous monitoring of all drivers in the field
- Monitor and support ELD and GPS systems for drivers ensuring logbook compliance.
- Audit field tickets, driver paperwork in a timely manor and report back to clients as required.
- Motivate and manage drivers and provide technical support when needed
- Liaise with technicians to ensure availability for maintenance and inspections
- Move equipment in and out of shop
- Ensure operators, subcontractors remain compliant with policies and procedure
- Identifying, developing, and maintaining transportation business opportunities
