Searchlight Pharma is a fast growing leading Canadian-based specialty healthcare company which focuses on the acquisition, commercialization, and focused development of innovative and unique specialty healthcare products that improve life-long human health and wellness.

The company is looking for an **Assistant Controller **to join their finance team in Montreal. You will report to the Controller of Searchlight and work in an open and friendly environment. The position currently offers a split office/work-from home environment.
- Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements
- Collaborate with the Controller to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Complete Month End Tasks to ensure timely closing of financials systems.
- Generate financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage and supervise daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure proper documentation and recording of financial transactions.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Work with the Controller to develop accurate financial forecasts.
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Assist in coordinating and facilitating internal and external audits.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the finance team.
- Undertake special projects and financial analysis as assigned by the Controller or senior management.
- Participate in an implementation of a new ERP
- Participate in the annual audit (provide support documentation)
- Support the budgeting process by providing financial data and analysis.
- Improving efficiencies and reporting
- Other duties may be assigned relating to the role, as required.

**Requirements and skills**
- Bilingual preferred (French and English)
- Minimum 5 years experience in an accounting department, at least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant controller capacity.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or relevant professional certification is a plus.
- Proven experience in accounting, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office.
- Well-organized with ability to prioritize.
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with inventory and cost Accounting.

Salary commensurate with experience

**Salary**: From $90,000.00 per year
