**Role Description**:
We’re looking for a **Behaviour Interventionist (BI)/Respite Worker** to support an **8-year-old learner** with Down Syndrome and autism in **Gastown area in Vancouver**. The BI will work one-on-one with the learner, supporting goals related to communication, social engagement, regulation, and daily living skills through play-based and community-based activities.

Sunday 5:30-8:30

Monday 5:30-8:30

Tuesday 6:30-9:30

Wednesday 5:30-8:30

Thursday 5:30-8:30

You’ll be supported with **initial and ongoing training** from a Behaviour Consultant, and sessions will include hands-on learning, behaviour support strategies, and regular communication with the team.

We’re looking for someone who is **playful, calm, creative, and confident** supporting learners in the community and at home.

**Responsibilities**:

- Engage the learner in meaningful, enjoyable activities in the community and home
- Respite duties include making dinner, feeding and bathing, getting child ready for bed and some housework (dishes, laundry, tidy). Also includes picking the sisters up from school and walking home with them on M, W and Th.
- Support the implementation of behaviour and communication strategies as outlined by the consultant
- Provide consistent, compassionate, and strengths-based support
- Collect simple data and share session notes with the Behaviour Consultant and family
- Communicate regularly with the team to ensure continuity and progress

**Requirements**:

- Experience working with autistic children, or in a related role (e.g., BI, EA, respite, child care, support worker)
- Ability to follow a plan, problem-solve in the moment, and have fun with the learner
- A clear criminal record check (or willingness to obtain)
- Two to three professional references
- 19 years of age or older
- Access to reliable transportation

**Scheduling**:

- Sunday 5:30-8:30Monday 5:30-8:30Tuesday 6:30-9:30Wednesday 5:30-8:30Thursday 5:30-8:30
- Schedule will be consistent weekly, set in collaboration with the family

**Compensation**:

- **Wage negotiated directly with the family**, based on experience

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $23.00-$24.00 per hour
