The Quality Assurance Specialist reports to Quality Supervisor and will primarily be responsible for ensuring that the plant conforms to quality guidelines as designated by the Quality department. A QA Specialist ensures all quality procedures for raw materials and finished products are followed by all plant personnel, issue corrective actions if required, and assist with the development of new process and product standards within the Quality department.

**Key Activities / responsibilities**:

- Ensure overall requirements for QA specifications and standards for materials, processes and finished products are being followed on the shop floor.
- Perform daily checks on Blenders, Extruders, CNC, and assembly lines.
- Investigate customer complaints as required and use root cause analysis tools to determine potential root cause, define preventive and corrective actions.
- Be a quality facilitator for change management for operations processes.
- Must actively involve in Built in Quality and Kaizen projects.
- Responsible for documentation control in the designated production area.
- Testing and verification of results - density, moisture and melt tests for raw materials and extruded plastics.
- Be open to be trained by production on all processes and machinery in operations.
- Quality trainer during orientation for new hires.
- Assist in future quality training activities to increase the knowledge in Quality tools and concepts.
- Inspection
- Perform quality inspection of incoming raw materials and finished goods.
- Audits - Participate in various facility audits with the QC Supervisor. Ensure all finished products and raw materials are within specification and procedures are followed.
- Draft procedures, work instructions, forms, and other documents related to Quality in manufacturing.
- Supplier communication and issue NCR in case of deviations.
- Data collection and data entry to calculate different quality metrics.
- General Administration: Prepare issue reports in case of quality deviations. Ensure all Quality records are up to date and filed correctly.
- Train team members on Quality standards and applicable procedures, ensure enforcement of procedures and policies.
- Action planning and logging of actions in ACT functionality.
- Support process mapping for quality activities to document quality processes.
- Quality support in production for troubleshooting deviations and collecting information to prepare issue reports to communicate outcomes and quality decisions.
- Perform FMEA and define control plans.

**Education/Experience Required**:

- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 1 year experience in Quality.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills to interact effectively with all functions and levels at the plant.
- Certifications including Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer, Quality Improvement Associate, Six Sigma is an asset.
- Time management and prioritization skills.
- Quality inspection, auditing, and testing experience.
- Experience with implementation of corrective action programs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and highly analytical with solid mathematical skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Minitab.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work with cross-functional teams.
- Must be able to work in all 3 shifts.

**Other Critical Capabilities**:

- Ability to stand for long periods of time, able to crouch, bend and kneel, as well as capable of heavy lifting and carrying.
