**Generator Technician**

**Responsibilities / Duties**:
Generator Technician Job Description:
A generator technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining generators and related systems. They ensure that generators are functioning properly and are ready to provide backup power when needed. Generator technicians may work in various settings, including residential, commercial, or industrial environments.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Install, commission, and set up generators and associated equipment according to manufacturer specifications.

2. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on generators to ensure optimal performance.

3. Diagnose and troubleshoot generator issues, identifying faulty components and making necessary repairs.

4. Replace defective parts and components, ensuring they are compatible with the generator model.

5. Conduct load bank testing on generators to verify their capacity and functionality.

6. Perform electrical and mechanical repairs on generators, including engine servicing, wiring, and control panel repairs.

7. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including service reports, parts inventory, and work orders.

8. Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

9. Collaborate with customers or team members to understand their power needs and provide technical support and advice.

10. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in generator technology.

**Requirements**:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Proven experience as a generator technician or in a similar role.

3. Strong technical knowledge of generators, electrical systems, and related components.

4. Familiarity with generator manufacturers' guidelines and specifications.

5. Proficiency in diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and hand tools commonly used in generator maintenance and repairs.

6. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and resolve generator issues.

7. Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting.

8. Good communication skills to effectively communicate with customers and team members.

9. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.

10. Adherence to safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.

11. Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy equipment and perform tasks in various weather conditions.

12. Valid driver's license may be required for certain positions.

13. Certification or training in generator maintenance and repair may be preferred.

**Preference given to these qualifications**:

- Minimum 3 years experience in the repair and maintenance of generator systems from 8kW to 2800 kW is preferred.
- Journeyman Mechanic with Electrical knowledge

Wage dependent on experience.

**Salary**: $25.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 44 per week
