**Overnight Shelter Worker**

Cambridge Shelter is looking for a motivated individual to join the overnight team

- **Position Description**_

This position will be responsible for the overnight security of the emergency shelter. CSC is a person-centred agency, dedicated to assisting individuals in moving forward with their lives.

**Duties of the Overnight Support Worker will include the following**:

- Maintain order in the shelter
- Coordinate the evening and morning routine of showers etc. for shelter residents
- Walk through the third floor shelter at regular intervals
- Check the grounds and the parking lot
- Work cooperatively with volunteers and other overnight staff
- Keep up-to-date, legible logbooks and reporting forms
- Log in shelter clients in the evening and overnight and complete required paperwork
- Respond to any emergencies in a fast and efficient manner
- Diffuse situations though effective communication.
- Tidy up the drop-in centre and clean as necessary, including laundry
- Wake shelter residents at the scheduled time and ensure that the third floor is vacant by 8:00 a.m.
- Admit morning staff and volunteers and assist with breakfast when necessary
- Walk through the second floor apartment area at least twice each night
- Admit police and other emergency personnel. Call 911 for any emergency
- Pass on any relevant information to day staff

**Qualifications**.

Vulnerable Sector Police check _required_
- This position would be a great fit for anyone, but not limited to, someone with education in Social Service Worker, Human services, or Police Foundations/ Criminal Justice._
- Shifts are 12 hours, 8pm-8am on a rotating schedule w/ every other weekend off._
