**HR Generalist - Food Production Focus**:

Summerhill Market is a boutique grocery store chain in Toronto specializing in scratch-made prepared foods and on-trend ingredients. Our stores go above and beyond a typical grocery store by offering an extensive rotating selection of ready-to-eat gourmet meals, freshly baked goods, and curated, hard-to-find groceries.
**Position Summary**
Reporting to the Director of HR, the **HR Generalist** is primarily responsible for providing human resources support to our **production teams** working within our **Commissary and Bakery Kitchen** locations. This role emphasizes collaboration with Production and Operations leaders to ensure that HR best practices are applied in a fast-paced, culinary-focused environment.
This position will focus on talent acquisition, training and development, employee engagement, and HR compliance to support a growing team of culinary professionals and production staff.
Role requires travel between locations and the person must have a reliable form of transportation.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Support all core HR functions, including recruitment, performance management, employee engagement, training and development, and health & safety compliance.
- Maintain and organize up-to-date employee records: contracts, training certifications, policy acknowledgments, and documentation.
- Implement and facilitate employee training related to health and safety, food safety, internal policies, and job-specific skills.
- Coordinate with the JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) on monthly inspections, quarterly meetings, and compliance tracking.
- Support employee relations initiatives and help foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Coordinate employee appreciation events and initiatives that support team engagement and recognition.
- Contribute to the roll-out of new HR initiatives, policy updates, and continuous improvements across the food production units.
- Additional HR duties and projects as assigned.
**Qualifications & Skills**
- 3 years+ of Human Resources experience, ideally in a food production, hospitality, or manufacturing environment.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field; CHRP designation or membership with HRPA is an asset.
- Working knowledge of HR functions including recruitment, training, policy implementation, and employee relations.
- Proven ability to build relationships with diverse teams and act as a trusted HR partner.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
- Ability to travel between production sites within the GTA.
- Energetic, collaborative, and eager to contribute to a team-focused HR environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with HRIS systems and proficient in ADP is an asset.

**Pay is based on experience and qualifications**based on demonstrated knowledge and skill in HR functions within a production-based environment.
