**Job Title**:Dental Assistant (maternity coverage)
**Pay**: $24.21 - $27.81 per hour
**Contract**: Part-Time Term Contract ending January 6, 2026
**Hours**: Mon - Fri (21-28 hrs per week)
**Location**: Ladysmith, BC

**About The Role**

Reporting to the Health Manager, Dental Assistant is responsible to assist Dental Therapist employed by FNHA. The dental assistant supports dental care delivery by preparing treatment room, patient, instruments, and materials; passing instruments and materials; performing procedures.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Office duties such as: scheduling appointments, maintaining records, and order supplies.
- Locate patient medical records for the dentist's use.
- Prepare patients for the dentist's examination.
- Perform chair-side duties, such as handing the dentist the proper materials and tools.
- Operate the suction hose that keeps the patient's mouth dry so the dentist can work on it.
- Operate X-ray machines.
- Make an impression of a patient's mouth or teeth.
- Sterilize instruments, develop X-rays, and mix compounds for cleaning or filling teeth
- Attend and participate in Team meetings
- Provide professional and friendly service at all times
- Performs all other duties in a back-up capacity when required

**Qualifications**
- A minimum of Grade 12 with relevant experience.
- Dental Assisting Program an asset
- Licensed or registered dental assistant is an asset
- Must undergo a satisfactory reference check and a criminal records review and police record check.
- Must possess a valid BC Driver’s License and may be required to use own vehicle (with appropriate insurance) for work purposes.
- Experience working or linking with First Nations communities or other Aboriginal communities.
- Fluency or comprehension of the Hulqui’minum language would be an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook

The Pay Range is the minimum (Step 1) and maximum (highest Step) annual base salary based on full time equivalent hours.
