**Job Title**:Dental Assistant (maternity coverage)
**Pay**: $24.21 - $27.81 per hour
**Contract**: Part-Time Term Contract ending January 6, 2026
**Hours**: Mon - Fri (21-28 hrs per week)
**Loca;on**: Ladysmith, BC

**About The Role**
Repor:ng to the Health Manager, Dental Assistant is responsible to assist Dental Therapist
employed by FNHA. The dental assistant supports dental care delivery by preparing treatment
room, pa:ent, instruments, and materials; passing instruments and materials; performing
procedures.

**Du;es & Responsibili;es**
- Office du:es such as: scheduling appointments, maintaining records, and order supplies.
- Locate pa:ent medical records for the den:st's use.
- Prepare pa:ents for the den:st's examination.
- Perform chair-side du:es, such as handing the den:st the proper materials and tools.
- Operate the suction hose that keeps the pa:ent's mouth dry so the den:st can work on it.
- Operate X-ray machines.
- Make an impression of a pa:ent's mouth or teeth.
- Sterilize instruments, develop X-rays, and mix compounds for cleaning or filling teeth
- Acend and par:cipate in Team mee:ngs
- Provide professional and friendly service at all :mes
- Performs all other du:es in a back-up capacity when required

**Qualifica;ons**
- A minimum of Grade 12 with relevant experience.
- Dental Assis:ng Program an asset
- Licensed or registered dental assistant is an asset
- Must undergo a sa:sfactory reference check and a criminal records review and police
- record check.
- Must possess a valid BC Driver’s License and may be required to use own vehicle (with
- appropriate insurance) for work purposes.
- Experience working or linking with First Nations communi:es or other Aboriginal
- communi:es.
- Fluency or comprehension of the Hulqui’minum language would be an asset
- Excellent verbal and wricen communication skills
- Excellent computer skills such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook

The Pay Range is the minimum (Step 1) and maximum (highest Step) annual base salary based
on full :me equivalent hours.
