Key responsibilities
- Assessment and treatment of pediatric clients with various needs, including, but not limited to, delayed language development, speech-sound impairments, early literacy challenges, voice disorders, social communication challenges, fluency disorders. Assessment and treatment requires work with children with various diagnoses, including, but not limited to, autism spectrum disorder, apraxia of speech, Down Syndrome, intellectual disability, social communication disorders, learning disabilities/disorders;
- In-person care. In-person care is the primary delivery model used by our organization. Virtual care is only offered in special circumstances. We firmly believe that in-person interactions are intrumental for learning.
- Assessment and treatment of adult clients with various needs, including, but not limited to, language, working memory, fluency, cognition/executive functioning and with various diagnoses, including, but not limited to, stroke, traumatic brain injury, concussion.
- Independent management of clinical caseload, which includes maintaining a minimum weekly clinical workload.
- Independent management of clerical needs, such as material preparation, room preparation, room clean up, and sanitization of materials used. Some support may be available if support staff are available to help.
- Engagement in timely, respectful, and professional communications within the organization and with external stakeholders, such as parents/caregivers, clinical team members, and legal teams.
- Adherence to deadlines for med-legal reports.
- Adherence to COVID-19 protective/preventative policies and protocols as recommended by the local health unit.
- Clinical supervision of Communicative Disorders Assistants.
**Required qualifications**
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences from an accredited program.
- Registration in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). Mentorship is provided for new graduates.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle to travel between clinics, as needed. A proportion of the caseload requires travel to conduct assessments and treat adult clients in their homes, as approved by auto insurers.
- Completion of Sheila MacDonald’s Cognitive Communications Disorders 1 coursework or agreement to complete such training at the time the job offer is accepted.
- Minimum Level 1 PROMPT ® training or agreement to complete such training at the time the job offer is accepted.
- Availability to work Monday to Friday. A workday may begin as early as 8:30 am and end no later than 6 pm. However, total weekly work hours do not exceed 37.5. There is therefore the potential to condense the work week and have a short Friday.
- Participation in promotional campaigns and network marketing initiatives, including, but not limited to: Sharing of company social media posts and advertisements on personal social media page(s) as requested from time to time; permitting the use of photographic images of you and/or your therapy materials/set-up and credentials in social media and other promotional campaigns; attendance at special networking and fundraising events. Admission fees to these events is paid by the organization.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.
- Independence in problem-solving and caseload management.
- Understanding of basic economic principles, such as the fee-for-service model, and especially how that model differs from public sector operations.
- Respectful and professional interpersonal and interprofessional verbal and written communication skills.
- Competence in basic computer operations, such as in the use of an electronic medical records system (EMR), tablets, word processing and spreadsheets. Familiarity with Apple products and platforms would be helpful.
- Ability to operate in a mostly paperless environment, including clinical notetaking, clinical data entry and storage, and assessment/therapy materials.
**Preferred qualifications**
- General CASLPO registration.
- Cognitive Communications Disorders 2 training and/or experience working with adults who have sustained injuries in motor vehicle collisions.
- PROMPT Level 2
- Current vulnerable sector check.
- Full vaccination against COVID-19.
**Remuneration**
- Salary**:$72,500. **Salary and re-signing bonus are negotiable at the end of the 3-year term.
