About the Role

As a Speech‑Language Pathologist in the Medically Complex Services and Palliative & Transitional Care, this role supports adult clients with complex and medically fragile conditions, including those requiring ongoing technology‑based care and symptom management at end of life. The clinician provides assessment, intervention, and education focused on communication, swallowing, and safe feeding strategies for clients with acute illness, chronic disease, or advanced stages of functional decline. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Speech‑Language Pathologist promotes comfort, dignity, and quality of life through individualized treatment plans and compassionate care for both clients and their families.

Position is 0.6 FTE on Medically Complex Services and 0.4 FTE on Palliative & Transitional Care.

What You Bring

Education/Experience

- Master’s degree or equivalent in Communicative Disorders

- Maintains active registration in the College of Audiologists and Speech‑Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)

- Encouraged to be a member of Speech‑Language and Audiology Canada (SAC)

- Note: New graduates are encouraged to apply. Mentorships for the initial practice period with CASLPO can be arranged

Skills/Abilities

- Ability to manage a clinical practice in a health care setting

- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing

- Ability to work independently, interdependently, and participate as a contributing member of a variety of teams within the workplace, community, and ministries/agencies

- Strong project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills

- Ability to use independent judgment and maintain confidentiality of records, actions, and information

- Interest/experience in Quality Improvement and Outcome Measurement

- Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Assets

- Experience in dysphagia assessment and management is an asset

- Experience working with adults who have acquired speech and language disorders and cognitive communication disorders is an asset

- Experience working with palliative clients is an asset

- Experience with videofluoroscopic swallow study, including Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP), an asset

- Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication is an asset

Conditions of Employment

- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
