WIS International is seeking a bright, enthusiastic individual to join our small but resourceful Canadian Human Resources team to fill a temporary 9-month maternity leave contract for the position of Human Resources Manager, based out of our Head Office in Mississauga.
**GENERAL DESCRIPTION/POSITION PURPOSE**
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, The Human Resources Manager, is directly responsible for all aspects of the Human Resources functions within the Canadian organization in compliance with all applicable federal and provincial legislation. They also work on projects for the development and ongoing revision of policies and programs.
Performance management, disability management, talent management and succession planning are all part of the scope of programs for which the individual is responsible.
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the investigation, processing and management of workers compensation claims, assisting in the RTW process, creation and maintenance of accurate records relating to the incidents, and determining viable solutions for reasonable accommodation.
This position will also be responsible for Health and Safety Compliance and work closely with all levels of management and employees across the country within the organization to ensure safe work practices and policies, and will provide orientation and training for employees, investigate any workplace accidents, file any appropriate documents to governing bodies (e.g. WCB, WSIB, OHSA, etc.), manage disability programs to ensure that employees receive appropriate benefits and employees return to work from disabilities are managed effectively.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS/DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
Experience or Knowledge Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree and five years’ human resource experience
- Able to interpret and implement personnel related legislation
- Sound leadership, staff management, and teambuilding skills
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, conflict resolution, and people management skills
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Organized, accurate and detailed in all facets of work
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
**Job Requirements/Duties**:
- Ensure company is operating in compliance with all legislative requirements (federal and provincial) by maintaining current knowledge of pay equity, human rights and employment standards guidelines and laws and reviewing all relevant policies, procedures, practices, processes, and systems.
- Drive team members to develop self-reliance and autonomy though ongoing coaching and training of performance management, conflict resolution, discipline and termination issues.
- Maintain positive company culture and environment by investigating and providing effective solutions for employee relations concerns in a timely manner
- Improve operational programs and processes through preparing and analyzing HR metrics.
- Ensure the health, safety and well-being of all employees by maintaining current, strong working knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety policies, procedures, regulations and legislation and implementing policies and programs.
- Promote a safe and early return to work, through claims management and working closely with team members, managers and/or workers compensation boards.
