Equipment Operators with Can-Traffic Services will auger holes (with a Derrick Digger) for set precast light bases, pour in place light bases and install street light and traffic signal poles and fixtures. Reporting to the Foreman, a Derrick Digger Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the digger. The operator plans work tasks, assesses the suitability of the equipment for the assigned task, positioning, setup, and operation of the equipment. ***What you will do Everyday**
- Operate the Derrick Digger in a safe and effective manner
- Auger holes for set precast light bases, pour in place light bases and install street light and traffic signal poles and fixtures
- Operate other pieces of equipment such as skid steer, mini, hoe, trencher as required
- Operate equipment productively in all conditions including high traffic, remote or congested areas
- Maintain equipment in accordance with Can-Traffic and NSC regulations, standards and procedures.
- Completion and timely submission of daily inspections, logbooks and other required paperwork
- Perform other activities as directed by the foreman such as, pulling wire, pouring concrete bases, unloading materials etc.

- Mechanically inclined with strong organizational & problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt to changes in assignments and priorities in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles
- Ability to maintaining high levels of productivity and able to work long hours when necessary
- Ability and willingness to perform duties in inclement and adverse weather conditions
- Knowledge of DOT restrictions and regulations

**Qualifications Needed**
- High School Diploma with experience operating a Derrick Digger
- Previous experience pulling trailers and operating equipment such as, skid steers, loaders, excavators, augers, etc.
- Valid Alberta Class 3Q driver’s license and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
- Industry courses in equipment operating is considered an asset
- Fall Protection, Standard First Aid, Aerial Work Platform are assets
