**Your opportunity**:
Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) and Lead Interviewer, **Field Interviewers** contact, schedule, and conduct online interviews with respondents to examine the intergenerational influence of children's family histories on their current work and family situations. All respondents were interviewed previously in Wave 1 of the study; TFSplus25 is a follow-up of these now adult children in the families interviewed in the 1990s.

During the required training, Field Interviewers receive instruction on how to contact prospective participants to request participation in the TFSplus25 project, schedule interviews, and conduct the computer-assisted standardized interview. Training includes a focus on interviewing techniques, minimizing refusals, and safety issues. Once Field Interviewers successfully complete training, they become part of a team responsible for interviewing participants.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Attend a mandatory training session in the Department of Sociology at the University of Toronto's St. George campus in downtown Toronto.
- Receive contact lists for prospective respondents, contact respondents, and schedule online interviews.
- Provide clear instruction and answer questions respondents may have about the study.
- Keep track of cases and case status in online Contact Logs reported back to the Lead Interviewer and Case Coordinator.
- Conduct pre-programmed interviews with respondents online via Zoom using Qualtrics online survey software.
- Complete 2 to 4 interviewers per week, working a minimum of 5 hours and a maximum of 12 hours per week.
- Maintain an acceptable response rate where, on average, the goal is 70% across all interviews.
- Discuss by phone or online with Lead Interviewer as necessary to review work issues in the field, performance, need of support for specific cases, and strategies for increasing and maintaining response rates.
- Attend monthly meetings on Zoom with the Field Interviewer Team and Research Team.

**Essential qualifications**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to establish rapport with diverse individuals and approachability.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately record and enter data.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or experience in social sciences or research is an asset.
- Comfortable working independently and managing time effectively.
- Ability to work during the day, in the evening, or weekends, depending on respondent availability.
- Access to online communications for an employment interview, to contact and conduct interviews with respondents, and check-ins with the Lead Interviewer and Research Team.

**Preferred (nonessential) qualifications**:

- Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in Sociology, Psychology, Life Sciences, or related discipline; research stream master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum one year of related research work experience as a Field Interviewer.

**Position details**:
Compensation: $19/hour.

Hours:

- Approximately 5-12 hours per week.
- Work schedule is flexible, with interviews scheduled by mutual agreement between respondents and yourself.
