Westrich Pacific Corp is an innovative Western Canadian Developer specializing in high rise concrete condominiums and mixed use developments. We are growing our multi family construction team. We are looking for a Construction Safety Officer to join our Construction team. The CSO will work directly with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and Site Operatives in all coordination and administration activities regarding site safety and hazard prevention.
- Responsible for the daily administration of the on-site Safety Program
- Provide safe working conditions for all workers, sub-trades and visitors on/around the site
- Working within a team environment, develop. implement and support a sound company safety culture at Westrich
- Maintenance and implementation of the Westrich Health and Safety policy and the occupational health and safety act and regulations of Ontario
- Participate in all site Ministry of Labour inspections under the direction of the Site Supervisor and Health and Safety Officer, and support the implementation of any recommendations and/or orders from the Ministry
- Communicate and interact with provincial and federal agencies requiring deliverable reporting including Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Emergency Services
- Participates in project start up meetings and understands the scope of work on projects
- In conjunction with the Site Supervisor, conduct site safety inspections (daily, weekly, monthly etc.) and any required toolbox talks
- Applies expertise to assess risk and solve problems of varying construction tasks
- Conduct regular on-site hazard assessments. Identify hazards and unsafe work practices and provide recommendations on how to eliminate these issues
- Work in cooperation with other project supervisory personnel to determine procedures for dealing with safety violations. Also work to further develop safety policies and procedures
- Communicate with Site Supervisors and provide solutions that eliminate site hazards
- Provides guidance and oversight on incident investigations and potentially severe near misses
- Provide instructions to workers in safe work procedures. How to use personal protective equipment
- Undertake the investigation of accidents, incidents or near misses to determine the underlying causes. Complete the necessary forms to document these incidents immediately
- All other duties as assigned by the Safety Manager and Construction Manager

**Qualifications and Personal Attributes**
- Minimum 3 year experience in Multi Family construction projects with below grade parking levels required
- NCSO designation
- Good computer skills, proficient MS Office programs (Excel, Word, Power Point etc)
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Well develop interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
- Results-driven who ensures the right course of action is taken
- Must have current accreditation in Auditor Training program and Leadership Safety Excellence
