**We are seeking Home Support Workers **in** the Durham Region**
**What will be your role?**
The Home Support Worker - Home assistant at VHA Home HealthCare is responsible for providing practical household assistance to people in their homes. In our HSW services, you’ll do more than provide services to clients; you’ll build strong, long-lasting relationships. We offer high-quality, multilingual services that are growing across Ontario, and our work environment focuses on supporting clients and staff through client and family-centered care, well-connected healthcare teams, and continual improvement support for people with low or fixed incomes who are unable to take care of their homes.
Our clients range from those with mental health issues, who live alone, are elderly, are physically challenged, or are at risk of being institutionalized and losing their homes. A Home Support Worker is required to perform various household duties including but not limited to housekeeping, laundry, cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms, and making beds. Duties vary from client to client ranging from light to heavy housekeeping. This position is physically demanding and consists of repetitive tasks on a day-to-day and home-to-home basis.

**Required Qualifications**:
- Experience in providing homemaking and cleaning services
- Access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license is mandatory for the Durham region
- Willingness to work with vulnerable populations
- Possess a compassionate and flexible nature and a client-centered approach to home support
- Demonstrated ability to recognize safety issues and follow safe work practices
- Must be able to meet the physical demand requirements of the role
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective verbal and written English language skills
