Foreman (New Work) - Ottawa

We are a seeking a highly motivated and customer focused individual for the position of Foreman. The successful applicant will be responsible for planning, organizing, overseeing, monitoring, and directing work on a variety of projects within our New Work division as a key member of the Chouinard Bros. family.

In addition, this role acts as a communication liaison between our residential construction production sites and the office to ensure efficient and effective communication on production, health & safety, service and other related administration and communication with our customers.

**The Duties/Responsibilities**
- Ensure that Chouinard Bros. New Work maintains a good construction practice for roofing installation
- Enforce the Ontario Building Code guidelines are followed, if not exceeded
- Allocate and manage the workflow of sub-contractors and, possible hourly employees.
- Collect purchase orders and completion slips
- Provide timely and professional written and verbal communication with Chouinard Bros. and Builder staff personnel.
- Oversee installer book ins including resolving issues as far as counts, measurements, etc.
- Responsible for staffing (hiring and firing) of any and all “INSTALLERS” that work directly for Chouinard in partnership with Human Resources.
- Educate/train installers in “best practices”
- Responsible for quality control of aluminum installation performed on Chouinard Bros. sites
- Complete Visual inspections as required.
- Provide Written and verbal direction to both sub-contractors and hourly employees
- Educate and work with Builder Supers and trades to ensure the aluminum installation performed on the sites can be done with little to no delay to both sub-contractors and hourly employees alike
- Attend service calls pertaining to aluminum as required.
- Champion all current and future Chouinard Bros. safety policies on all sites with members of the team.
- Work with Service department to resolve “service work” on active sites with the forces working on that site.
- Supervise the use of “Booms” by the aluminum forces ensuring utilization targets are met.
- Communicate the needs for movement and ordering/return of equipment including Booms/Cherry Pickers
- Work with Human Resources to develop and grow your team including bringing on new hires or disciplining as required.
- Organizing and ordering of materials on a daily basis
- Participate in Safety Training classes/courses as required.
- Ensure that “Tool Box Talks” are performed in a timely manner, and left with the site and office Safety Manager monthly.

**Skills, Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications**
- A minimum of 5 years supervisory/foreman experience preferably with construction or building materials.
- Proficient computer skills specific to Excel, and Word. We will provide training for our company software system.
- Ability to monitor and track site progress with an intimate knowledge of construction workflow
- Skills in building relationships with internal and external business to business customers
- Superior phone etiquette and ability to deal effectively with internal or external customers, peers and management
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to consistently re-prioritize tasks to meet appropriate timelines.
- Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced team environment.
- Must be organized and be able to juggle multiple tasks at the same time.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy with excellent data entry skills
- Discretion, good judgment, organizational ability, initiative, and the ability to work independently and as part of a group.

**Physical Demands**
- Driving to and from sites
- Walking on construction sites with uneven ground at times
- Climbing ladders as required
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs on occasion

**Schedule**
- Monday to Friday
- 7:00am - 4:00pm typically

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
