**Job description**
**Responsibilities**
- Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
- Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
- Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
- Manage lines of credit and bank external reporting
- Prepare year end audit working papers
- Prepare and review inventory check audit procedures and reporting
- Development with operations and executive of the standard costing of manufactured goods on a job order and activity based accounting basis, together with quarterly reviews of standards
- Assist executive team with strategic structural growth and development of the business as a whole
- Taxation compliance including all taxes and governmental reporting, HST, corporate tax, payroll taxes, import and export duties and taxes
- Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required
- Manage the timing and accurate billing, collections and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
- Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
- Prepare and present monthly financial, costing and budgeting (FPA) reports to executive team
- Collaborate with executive team and operations to make efficient and effective firm-wide financial and productivity, efficiency analysis of operation possible
- Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
**Qualifications**
- Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
- Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
- Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
- Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
- Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
- CPA/MBA preferred
- Accounting experience in manufacturing or job order shop or construction a plus
- Strong communication skills and able to receive criticism well
- Month end closings experience
- Expertise in Process Improvement
- Experience with Global Treasury
- Foundational knowledge in international financial reporting standards
- Financial reporting experience
- High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
- Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
