Ecommerce Assistant

We’re hiring an **eCommerce Assistant** at our Burnaby office through the support of the **Canada Summer Jobs program**. This is a full-time, 8-week summer contract—an excellent opportunity for a student interested in digital marketing, eCommerce, and nonprofit work.

**Eligibility Requirements (Canada Summer Jobs Program)**:

- Must be between 18-30 years of age
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Must have a valid Social Insurance Number

Our ReStores are social enterprises that help fund Habitat’s mission by selling donated home goods and building materials. The eStore brings this impact online, reaching communities across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. From product listings to customer service and marketing support, your work will directly support families and sustainability efforts in our region.

**Job Summary**

**Full time, Monday to Friday**

Reporting to the Senior Manager, eCommerce & Customer Experience, you’ll support the promotion and operations of our online ReStore.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Creating social media content (Instagram and Facebook) to promote sales, new arrivals, and mission messaging
- Designing digital assets (web banners, social graphics, in-store signage) aligned with Habitat’s brand guidelines
- Uploading and managing product listings on Shopify
- Monitoring online orders and assisting customers with inquiries or pickups
- Collaborating with staff at the Burnaby ReStore to expand online listings and improve inventory visibility

This role is ideal for someone looking to build their portfolio, gain valuable real-world experience, and contribute to a meaningful cause.

**Skills Required**:

- Understanding of social media platforms (especially Instagram and Facebook)
- Strong written communication skills for marketing content, captions, and product listings
- Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools
- Comfort using computers and online platforms (e.g., Shopify or similar eCommerce systems)
- Attention to detail and solid organizational skills
- Ability to follow brand guidelines and maintain a consistent visual identity
- Customer-focused mindset and strong problem-solving skills
- Willingness to collaborate with teams across departments and locations
- Self-motivated and able to manage time in a fast-paced environment

**Education & Experience**
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a post-secondary program in marketing, communications, graphic design, business, or a related field
- Experience in a nonprofit or retail setting is an added bonus
- **Strong spoken and written English communication skills are essential**

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 weeks

Pay: $17.85 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week
