Jr. Material Testing Technician

**JOB OVERVIEW**

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Materials Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of materials used in our projects. Your primary responsibilities will include performing soil compaction testing and concrete testing to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. Additional responsibilities may include soil lab testing and pile inspection testing as required. This is a **project-based position**, and as such, we are looking for someone who is adaptable and flexible with shift hours to meet project deadlines and requirements.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Conduct soil compaction testing on-site to verify compliance with project specifications.
- Perform concrete testing to assess the quality and consistency of materials used.
- Complete soil lab testing, ensuring results meet regulatory and project standards.
- Conduct pile inspection testing to ensure proper installation and integrity of piles.
- Maintain accurate records of testing and report results to project managers and clients.
- Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and in good working condition.
- Communicate with project teams to address material-related issues and provide technical support.
- Participate in safety training and follow all safety protocols and procedures

**QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE**

We are seeking individuals who can use their knowledge and skills to perform quality control and quality assurance testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, etc., performing work in the field and in our in-house lab. Experience in all of these areas is preferred, but additional training will be provided. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality Materials Testing services and solutions to our clients.
- High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education in civil engineering technology or a related field is an asset)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving abstract are required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility with working hours and ability to adapt to project schedules. Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends if required
- Strong organizational skills and ability to document results accurately.
- Safety-conscious and committed to maintaining a safe working environment
- Previous experience in materials testing (even as a co-op/intern) is an asset but not required - training provided

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour

Additional pay: Overtime pay
