Video games tell stories not only through gameplay, but also through cinematics. Those key visual moments allow the players to immerse themselves fully into the game’s world and narrative by delivering beautiful and compelling images to complement the game’s storytelling.
And to create such stunning sequences, it is vital to have a sharp camera quality. As a Cinematics Camera Specialist at Ubisoft Montreal, you will be responsible for the cutting-edge quality of our in-game cutscenes and helping our players live out the AAA experience.
**Job Description**:
- Work in collaboration with the narrative director to develop the style and role of the cameras in the overall cutscene/non-playable sequence experience.
- Read the cutscene scripts to understand the emotions to be conveyed to the player.
- Define and set up cameras and all related parameters (focus, distance, frame, etc.) to ensure the best possible visual quality.
- Create camera movements whenever necessary and ensure their quality.
- Correct the camera bugs that testers enter in the database.
- Break down the storyboards with the storyboard artists and narrative director/producing director to analyze optimal camera shots
**Qualifications**:
- Experience in game level design, production or game design (or in any other relevant field)
- Experience in broadcasting or film (an asset)
- An artistic eye and a sense for composition
- A creative mindset
- Experience with 3D animation and VFX softwares
- Talent with video editing software
- Sense of organisation
- Good communication and teamwork
