PROJECT ESTIMATOR

Carmont Construction is a General Contracting Company that has served the city of Saskatoon for over 40 years. Our projects encompass the commercial, institutional, and light industrial sectors. Currently, we have an opening for an Estimator.

Job Scope

Functions & Responsibilities

× Assist the General Manager in the determination of desirable work

× Assist in the negotiation of projects, assessing the needs of clients and users, and agree the project brief

× Review tendering procedures, examine, and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards, and conduct negotiations

× Coordinate bid schedule maintenance with Tendering & Office Coordinator as well as bond/insurance certificate procurement

× Prepare for and promptly attend pre-tender site meetings as needed

× Preparing estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment and subcontracts for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications

× Prepare budgets and construction schedules, and setting up project administration files

× Upon project award, review tender/construction documents with the delegated Project Manager and Superintendent to review details of the project

× Communicate with Project Managers during the construction phase if they have any questions about pricing or cost (e.g. potential changes in scope)

× Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders

× Prepare estimates of labour and materials costs

× Estimate pre-contract costs

× Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors

× Work in a confidential, and highly responsive relationship with management

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
× Combination of three (3) years working in Commercial / Industrial / Institutional Construction estimation

× Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications

× Strong attention to detail and design

× Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills

× Excellent decision-making and leadership capabilities

× Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work

× Excellent written and verbal communication skills

× Strong analytical and organizational skills

× Ability to tolerate stress and high-pressure situations

× Proficient in Microsoft Office

× Valid driver’s license
