A Royal City Nursery Assistant Retail Supervisor is a thoughtful, solutions-based leader, and confident decision-maker, who supports our team with day-to-day sales, assists with management of revenue and expenses, purchasing and the mentoring and productivity of our team. In addition to overseeing the cashiers, and working closely with the department supervisors, ownership and vendors to successfully meet the needs of our business and achieve results, the Assistant Retail Supervisor will play a key support role to the Boutique Supervisor and Nursery Supervisor, stepping in to oversee daily operations during their absence due to events, conferences, vacation, illness, etc.

- **What You Will Do**_
- Assist with leading and inspiring our sales team to build relationships with customers, associates & peers in order to provide exceptional customer service and achieve top line sales with strong merchandising and product knowledge
- Foster and encourage a positive and energetic atmosphere in the department and towards all aspects of the position.
- Assist with the ordering of seasonally appropriate product, including gift and home décor, fashion, and nursery hardgoods under the guidance of supervisors and ownership.
- Assist with staff training and encourage excellent customer service standards within a team setting
- Assist with day-to-day operations to improve operations and financial performance within the retail store
- Oversee the cashiers and cashier process, training as necessary.
- Stay up to date on new products and techniques
- Assist with the organization of vendor deliveries
- Assist with retail floor setup and seasonal changes, to improve sales, ensuring proper traffic flow, merchandising and cross merchandising techniques.
- Ensure and maintain the overall cleanliness and product quality within the department and facility
- Assist with sales floor maintenance and tidiness
- Maintain a high-level store image and work as a leader and role model.
- Ability to deal with difficult customers and complaints or warrantee issues, by successfully diffusing the situation and arriving at a positive resolution
- Full understanding, following and enforcement of company policies.
- Any other tasks required for the safe and effective running of the company.
- **Safety**:_
- Adhere to and enforce safety policy as per the employee handbook and Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Work with Royal City Nursery to attain necessary certifications for performance of tasks
- Take every reasonable precaution to ensure the safety of the staff and the public
- **What You Will Bring**_
- **Experience**:_
- 5 years of retail experience (fashion boutique and / or garden center experience? Even better)
- Strong knowledge of retail operations, from seasonal purchasing to customer delight.
- Proven leadership in creating exceptional experiences for customers and teams
- Proven experience in fostering an exceptional retail experience for clients and team
- Experience mentoring, and / or training employees.

- **Physical and Working Environment Requirements**:_
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
- Comfortable working on a variety of surfaces and in seasonal environments.
- **Please note**: Must be able to work some evening and weekend shifts on a weekly basis
- Computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office and Google products.
- First Aid Training (preferred).
