As a Painter at Terminal City Club on a 6-month contract, you will play a key role in maintaining the property’s visual standards by ensuring all painted surfaces—walls, ceilings, doors, trim, and floors—are kept in excellent condition. Your work will contribute to a well-maintained, polished environment for Members, Guests, and Staff, reflecting the high standards of the Club.
**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Perform interior and exterior painting, staining, and finishing throughout the Club, ensuring high and consistent quality.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming; repair and refinish drywall, wood, plaster, and other materials as needed.
- Conduct regular touch-ups and inspections in high-traffic areas; contribute to proactive maintenance to prevent wear and maintain pristine conditions.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Team and Chief Engineer on renovations, seasonal upkeep, and broader maintenance duties.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; properly store paint supplies, tools, and keep accurate records of paint colours, finishes, and schedules.
- Follow safety protocols when using ladders, scaffolding, or protective equipment, and complete tasks with mínimal disruption to Members and staff.
**REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum 2-3 years of professional painting experience, ideally in commercial, hospitality, heritage, or luxury properties; trade certification in painting is an asset.
- Skilled in patching, prepping, and finishing drywall, as well as wood touch-ups and refinishing to maintain polished surfaces.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality finishes; maintains high standards and solves problems independently.
- Comfortable working at heights and using ladders, with a strong focus on safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; able to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and assist with other maintenance duties as needed.
- Familiar with basic carpentry, drywall repair, and finishing techniques.
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Lift up to 25 lbs and move supplies such as paint cans, brushes, and ladders.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and climb ladders or scaffolding for extended periods; reach, stretch, and maneuver in tight or elevated spaces as needed.
- Use painting tools with precision and maintain good hand-eye coordination.
- Work long shifts, including outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions, while following safety protocols when using tools, ladders, or working at heights.
