Trans Mountain operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.

As a Health & Safety (H&S) Advisor with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of health and safety professionals. The role primarily involves supporting operational safety initiatives and deliverables within the EHS department. Responsible for updates and maintenance of the Health and Safety program is the safety generalist assigned to manage programs, solve problems and resolve safety issues at various Trans Mountain sites.
This role is based in our Kamloops office and reports to the Manager, EHS Field Services.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Promote H&S awareness and commitment by building on existing culture and program strengths;
- Connect with the workforce to communicate the importance of Safety and promote corporate H&S objectives, policies, and procedures;
- Provide leadership related to the Contractor Safety Program to internal and external stakeholders as required;
- Serve as safety “Point of Contact” and address safety matters at field locations;
- Participate in Job Hazard Assessments and assist with the implementation of safety control measures;
- Provide training to company personnel on selected safety topics;
- Represent geographical area on Safety Reps Committee;
- Provide safety support, as needed, to Major Projects, engineering, or operations projects;
- Facilitate “root cause” analysis of reported incidents, such as near misses, personal injury, or vehicle accidents;
- Participate in formal investigation teams for serious incidents;
- Participate in Emergency Response drills and actual responses at any Trans Mountain location, during and outside of regular work hours, as a safety officer or a member of the environmental unit;
- Conduct periodic EHS inspections of company facilities, including contractors, and assist with corporate and government EHS assessments and audits; and
- Lead the radiation safety component of the Safety Program (training provided).
**Qualifications and Professional Experience**:
- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline, such as Health, Safety and Environment (OHS or equivalent) or Business;
- Minimum 5 years of experience preferably in the H&S domain;
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation is an asset;
- Understanding of Safety Management Systems, Inspection Process, Hazard reporting;
- Experience with Root Cause analysis, Incident investigation, emergency response and Radiation Safety is an asset;
- Ability to successfully organize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously, frequently under strict deadlines;
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence;
- Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules and adhere to established work schedules;
- Maintain a regular, dependable attendance, and high level of performance; and
- Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
**Other Requirements and Information**:
- Office based work; may need to work from a home office;
- Overtime may be required for certain project work;
- Travel: up to 30%; and
- Driver’s License required
