**Overview**

We are seeking a **compassionate and dependable Respite Worker / Caregiver** to provide essential in-home support for a family caring for **twin 13-year-old girls with severe developmental disabilities**.

Our **long-time caregiver of over 8 years** is moving on, and we are looking for someone who can bring the same warmth, reliability, and commitment to supporting our family. The position involves **weekend shifts from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM**, with **opportunities for additional hours** during school breaks and summer months when the girls are home full-time and require extra support.

This role offers meaningful, hands-on work supporting the girls in their daily routines and helping their single mother maintain balance and stability in the home.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide **personal care assistance**, including toileting, dressing, bathing, and feeding.
- Support **daily living activities** such as meal preparation, assistance with eating, and mobility support.
- Encourage the girls’ **communication** using AAC (iPad) devices with gentle prompting and consistency.
- Engage the girls in **structured, meaningful activities** that build life skills and promote social interaction (e.g., music, sensory play, light household tasks).
- Help with **light housekeeping tasks** related to their care — laundry, dishes, tidying shared spaces, and organizing.
- Ensure a **safe, calm, and positive environment**, following established routines and safety practices.
- Communicate clearly with the parent regarding progress, needs, or concerns.

**Qualifications**
- Previous experience in **disability support, respite care, or personal care assistance** preferred.
- Experience with **autism, developmental disabilities, or non-verbal communication** is an asset.
- **Comfortable with personal care**, including toileting and hygiene assistance.
- **Standard First Aid & CPR (Level C)** required or willingness to obtain.
- **Valid driver’s licence and vehicle required.**:

- Strong communication skills and a **compassionate, patient approach** to caregiving.
- Must be **reliable, punctual, and able to work weekend shifts**, with occasional overnights, holidays, and extra hours during school breaks.
