**Job Description**:

Teledyne Digital Imaging's products are used worldwide in machine vision, document scanning, image capture, surveillance, process monitoring, manufacturing inspection, medical imaging, and multi media. As part of our continuing growth in this high technology market, Teledyne Digital Imaging is recruiting for an Associate Project (Design) Manager in Waterloo.

Position Summary:
In this role you will be primarily responsible for the planning and execution of new product development projects within R&D. Projects will involve an element of technological risk and will evolve significantly during their execution. Projects will be cross-functional in nature and may involve more than one development site.

Position Responsibilities:
1. Plan and initiate significant new product development projects:
- Assist in development of business case and project goals. Review them with sponsor.- Determine rapid deployment and validation strategy.- Establish project plan and resource plans. Assist with assessing and mitigating risk.- Acquire management approval to proceed.

2. Execute one or more development projects, through product design and deployment:
- Help to build, co-ordinate, and manage a cross-functional team.- Track and report progress to senior management.- Review and manage project risks- Identify resource conflicts. Determine and recommend resolution options. Suggest and once approved, implement scope change.- Help achieving business objectives for the project / product- Support product during its deployment and through its early life

3. Assist to set project goals for team members. Conduct project specific performance reviews of team members. Provide review of functional group managers in terms of group capability.

4. Participate in setting multi-project business goals, typically under the auspices of a program focused on a single product family or architecture. Co-ordinate plans, activities, and resources to achieve these goals.

5.Assist R&D Management with Capacity Planning, Operational Planning, and Technology Roadmaps. Contribute to Product Roadmaps.

6. Contribute to the project management and product development methodologies. Help with leading process developments.

7. Prepare, plan and lead NPI process transition.

Position Requirements:
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience with imaging hardware/software. Two-year experience in product development under structured project management- PMP Designation- Knowledge of rapid product development strategies and process deliverables Product Management and OEM Business Development experience- Strong written and verbal communication skills.- Strong leadership skills, _e.g._, getting things done across organizational boundaries.- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.- Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).- Knowledge of project management software tools, especially Microsoft Project.- Knowledge of SAP and NPI will be an asset.

Travel in support of customers and projects is required. It includes visits to vendor sites as well.
