Reporting to the Associate Director, Operations & Business Development, the Manager, Employer Engagement is responsible for planning and overseeing the development, implementation and evaluation of employer relationships and engagement with new organizations, and supporting existing relationship management strategies to increase internship and employment opportunities for Queen’s University students and recent graduates. The incumbent works collaboratively with other career centres and corporate relations teams in the development of employer strategies, annual plans and priorities aimed at increasing employer recruitment, and career partner engagement.
The Manager conducts labour market research, reports on industry trends and provides consulting services for the Queen’s community and employers, developing key performance indicators and metrics to align with unit goals. The Manager builds relationships with key priority employers, plans events, and works closely with contacts across the University to coordinate outreach and agreements. The Manager is responsible for working across boundaries and with many stakeholders, internal and external to the University, to build long term relationships.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Coordinates and strengthens the relationships Queen’s University has with employers through developing strategy, systems, and institution‐wide coordination of relationship management activities; continuously seeks new opportunities to create more experiential learning and employment opportunities through external employers and community organizations for students and recent graduates
- Strategically positions Queen’s University to employers and community partners as a preferred destination for the recruitment of students, interns, and recent graduates
- Determines employer relations needs for internship and career education programming and develops strategies to meet needs through a comprehensive understanding of industry trends, employer expectations, and students’ preferences
- Researches and develops new ways of engaging with employers, responding to their needs, and connecting them with students through enhanced employer relations; identifies threats to cultivating and maintaining strong employer relations.
- Coordinates and develops appropriate marketing, promotions, and outreach strategies for employer engagement.
- Identifies specific initiatives and supports for the employment of underrepresented equity deserving groups in the labour market (such as persons who identify as Indigenous, black, women, LQTBQ+, or having disabilities).
- Continuously audits existing CRM technology and procedures and makes recommendations for systematic approaches to employer data collection and analysis.
- In consultation with the Associate Director, develops key performance indicators, metrics, and other data necessary to promote quality, sustainability, and growth of employer relations.
- Ensures accurate and timely collection of data for institutional and ministry reporting purposes; analyses and evaluates data to monitor program effectiveness and provide relevant program updates and statistics.
- Represents Career Services on University and external committees or events relating to employment and employer engagement; develops and delivers presentations.
- Remains informed of Ontario, Canada, and international government legislation, ethical standards, and policy documents which relate to employment, experiential learning, work integrated learning and privacy.
- Plans, prioritizes, and manages the work of staff (within the Employer Relations team), providing strategic and tactical advice, guidance, and coaching.
- Identifies the need for staff resources, participates on staffing committees, and makes effective recommendations regarding employee selection.
- Manages performance by establishing performance standards, reviewing, and evaluating performance and conducting formal performance reviews on an ongoing basis.
