The Edmonton EXPO Centre is looking for **Pastry** **Cook III** who will be vital to executing the events coming through the venue, including **K-Days** and **Farmfair International**.
- Use of a high level of cooking skills in the production of new food dishes using modern food technology and methods
- Observe methods of food preparation; feel, taste, and smell prepared dishes, view colors, textures, and garnishments; inform subordinates of necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards and presentation
- Communicate with Chef de Partie as per requirements and production schedules
- Ensure correct and timely distribution of food or product to required location
- Rotate all items in refrigerators to minimize spoilage; prevent waste & inefficient use of supplies.
- Ensure proper transportation, handling and storage of goods and materials
- Ensure that all areas in the kitchen are always kept clean and tidy
- Might assist in cleaning and diverse washing within the kitchen
- Understand, follow, and comply with EEC’s Health and Safety policy, EXPO’s Health & Safety Program and OH&S regulations.
- Support and promote a Safe and Healthy work environment to clients, guests, contractors, and employees
- Ensure proper operation of assigned equipment to avoid injury, break-down or damage
- Report damaged equipment to proper authorities and take appropriate action
- Grade 10 education preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role
- Ability to prioritize, assess problems and make prompt decisions
- Cutting, hearing, seeing, carrying, standing, lifting, grasping, pulling, tasting, and kneeling
- Able to carry 50 lbs
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for customer service
- Excellent problem solving and positive decision-making skills
- A commitment to quality, with a good presence and sense of direction
- Diplomacy and tact when handling sensitive situations and information
- An ability to work well both independently and within a collaborative team environment with the flexibility to change with new ideas that are introduced
- An ability to work shift work, daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays
