Well, the Saintlo Ottawa Jail Hostel just might have the job for you We are looking for a _**front desk agent**_ to complete our team.

**WHO ARE WE?**

Saintlo is a collective of youth hostels covering Quebec and Ontario. Our mission: _to create positive encounters between people from here and from around the world, and to promote the discovery of our territory_. We believe that open-mindedness, solidarity and kindness foster a better way to travel.

**YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT**

You’ll be able to tell your friends and family that you work in an old jail Our historic 150 years old building has been a hostel for 50 years, but before that it was a jail. Although we’ve added comfort, we haven’t touched the most distinctive elements, like the stone walls and iron doors in cells. The travellers can still sleep in the jail cells and live an out of the ordinary experience.

**YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES**

You'll be the first point of contact with the travellers coming into the jail. Your mission will be to welcome them in a friendly and professional way so that they feel just like at home. You'll also be their point of contact in the city. You'll share your best tips to make their stay as memorable as possible. Also, from time to time, you will have to use your problem-solving skills as some issues may arise.

**MORE SPECIFICALLY, YOU WILL BE CALLED TO**
- Perform transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Reconcile daily cash reports;
- Keep the front desk and lobby clean and organized at all times.
- Assist housekeeping with maintaining the overall cleanliness of the hostel by performing duties such as morning bed checks, kitchen clean up, laundry and keeping reception clean and tidy.
- Servicing needs of guests to ensure their stay is an enjoyable one.
- Follow policies and procedures manual when incidents occur.
- Attend information sessions, exhibit openings, etc. to stay aware of what’s going on in Ottawa and its surrounding areas.

**YOU ARE THE PERFECT PERSON IF YOU HAVE**
- Retail sales or customer service experience.
- A flexible schedule, meaning that you are able to work days and nights if needed.
- Experience in the hostel industry or similar experience.
- Knowledge of various computer programs including: Outlook, Excel, Word;
- Knowledge of Property Management System, Cloudbeds (an asset)
- Ability to operate in both official languages, an asset.
