Dr. Smita Pakhale and her team are involved in clinical research in equity and quality of life, focusing on tobacco dependence, health equity, anti-racism, COVID-19 Impact and the social determinants of health in multiple CIHR funded projects. Other clinical studies, regarding asthma, sickle cell disease, cystic fibrosis, and nicotine dependence are also underway.

This research/operations post is linked to our community research center located Vanier, Ottawa where we conduct Community-Based Participatory Action Research (CBPAR) in true partnership with the self-reported homeless, at-risk for homelessness, low income racialized including Indigenous population. It involves collaborations with multi-disciplinary scientist, community members, peer researchers from the community, allied healthcare disciplines, and collaborations with teams from across Canada, and US when required. The successful applicant will play a key role in developing, implementing, and evaluating the downtown Community-Based Participatory Action Research projects.

**The successful applicant will be supervised by Dr. Pakhale and be responsible for**:

- Overall operations of the community research office
- Monitoring smooth functioning of peer training, recruitment and implementation of research protocols
- Maintaining documentation on peer research training manuals, terms of agreements, confidentiality agreements with peer researchers, community advisory committee members, and volunteers
- Monitoring and preparing financial budgets for ongoing clinical research projects
- Participating in evaluation of the ongoing clinical research projects
- Participating in writing media reports, online blogs, journal articles along with the research team
- Interacting with local, national and international collaborators in the development and implementation of newer projects

**Basic Requirements (Education/Experience)**:

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical research environment and a postsecondary degree or diploma
- 2-3+ years’ experience working with marginalized communities, such as people who use drugs, are homeless or insecurely housed etc.
- Experience with health systems and/or health research, including quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Evidence of training certification in Tri-Council Policy Statement -2 (TCPS-2) and the International Conference on Harmonization - Good Clinical Practice Guidelines (ICH-GCP)
- Evidence of training in Food and Drug Regulations, Division 5, and/or Device Regulations, as applicable
- Previous mixed-method research experience, with extensive academic and non-academic writing experience
- Strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with excellent communication and organizational skills
- Mature individual with ability to work independently and within a diverse team environment

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (health, social sciences, or public health)

**Contract Details**:
This is a 3-year full-time contract with the possibility of renewal.

**Salary**: Min:$32.004/hr - Max:$46.147/hr
