This is a permanent, **full-time** position with tremendous growth opportunities for a highly motivated professional. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Purchaser will control the purchasing and inventory of hardware, wood doors, hollow metal doors and frames, specialties, washroom accessories, toilet partitions and lockers. Ensuring that materials are the correct price, quality, and quantity, and arrive as per the scheduled requirements for our construction projects, or to replenish our standard stock inventory.

As the** Purchaser,** you will be responsible to:
Prepare purchase orders for hardware, wood doors, specialties, washroom accessories, toilet partitions, lockers, hollow metal doors and frames by verifying specifications and price.
- Purchase materials and services in accordance with CP Distributors procurement policies and procedures;
- Identifying and selecting vendors, while meeting specification, price, quantity, quality, and delivery date;
- Verify purchase requisitions by comparing requested items to price lists, clarifying unclear items, and recommending alternatives;
- Verify stock and using the inventory items to fulfill purchase orders;
- Negotiate for the best price, delivery, terms of payment and purchase conditions, and other factors impacting the supply of material or components;
- Obtain recommendations from suppliers for substitute items;
- Monitor and expedite orders;
- Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with suppliers;
- Schedule deliveries, including resolving material shortages, shipping errors, missed deliveries, late shipments, and other problems;
- Verify receipts of the orders, authorizing payments;
- Monitor stock levels to proactively ensure stock levels are maintained and deal with any faulty items or inconsistencies immediately;
- Check the availability of the product on shelves with Warehouse Managers.

**Your Experience**:

- Knowledge of commercial hardware, wood doors, hollow metal doors and frames, specialties, washroom accessories, toilet partitions and lockers, an asset;
- Previous training or equivalent combination of education and experience in construction material & trade procurement would be considered an asset;
- Commercial and mixed-use construction experience will be considered an asset;
- Previous experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Platform or Microsoft Dynamics NAV, an asset.

**Your Skills**:

- Post secondary diploma/degree in a related field an asset (e.g., business, supply chain management, logistics, warehouse distribution);
- Door + Hardware Technician (DHT), Door + Hardware Consultant (DHC), Architectural Hardware Consultants (AHCs), Certified Door Consultants (CDCs), Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), an asset;
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities;
- Adaptability and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and constantly evolving business environment;
- Strong ability to forge relationships both internally within different CP Distributors departments and externally with stakeholders/suppliers;
- Independent thinker capable of taking initiative and finding solutions for challenges;
- Effective negotiation, interpersonal communication skills, and critical thinking skills in problem solving;
