Overview: EK Parks is a contractor for BC Parks. Working in a Provincial Park includes campsite maintenance, cleaning of washroom facilities & outhouses, landscaping and customer service. Fee collection, firewood sales, enforcement of park rules and providing information about the local area. Beach and day use patrols. Working with the reservation system and fcfs campers for registrations. Dry Gulch Provincial Park is looking for a Full Time Park Operator. Interviews commence Mid March.
**DUTIES**:
**Campsite Cleaning**:
- Gravel pad raked, table base swept and surfaces wiped clean, fire pit shoveled out, garbage picked up from site and perimeter, any holes raked and filled in. Check for any maintenance/safety issues.
**Outhouse & Building Cleaning**:
- Swept inside and outside walls, ceilings & roof, cobwebs swept away. Inside walls, doors (in & out) are thoroughly wiped/disinfected. Toilets cleaned, disinfected and wiped inside & out. Sinks and surrounding areas wiped & disinfected. Garbage picked up. Toilet Paper replaced as needed. Floor washed. Gravel raked. Check for any maintenance/safety issues.
**Garbage & Recycling**:
- Daily collection of garbage & recyclables, replace bags where needed, disinfecting and wiping down inside and outside of garbage and recycle bins. Check for any maintenance/safety issues.
**Lawn & Trail Maintenance-**Mowed, Weed whacked, leaf blowing & watering as needed for lawns. Trail maintenance, walk the length of the trails and do any brushing & trimming as needed, pick up litter, identify any hazards and report.
**Vehicle Maintenance**:
- Daily checks for oil, gas, coolant & windshield washer. Check tires for air. Check the lights, brake lights, tail lights & signal lights. Clean out your work vehicle as needed, remove garbage, put away all supplies, file any paperwork. Equipment removed and stored safely. Windows cleaned & mirrors washed. Report any maintenance/safety issues to management.
**General Maintenance**:
- Painting and staining of buildings, outhouses, tables, benches, gates, where directed by management. Basic facilities maintenance can include but not limited to: Where maintenance is beyond employees capabilities they will coordinate with the maintenance managers.
**Traffic Count Recording**:
- Daily consecutive readings recorded on provided form to be submitted monthly. Where applicable.
**Administrative**:
- Count float at beginning of shift, print off any reservation information. Complete Level 1 reports weekly (if applicable) Playground, dock & bike parks checklist completed daily. Cash out at the end of shift, completing deposits (Taking to bank where applicable)Document all revenue on daily revenue sheet, write out comments for the day in the communication book. Charge all mobile devices nightly.
**Campsite Registration**:
- Friendly approach stopping at each site that needs to be registered. Collect customer information, collect payment where needed, charge for second vehicles (where applicable) provide customers with information about check out time, wildlife in the area, quiet time rules, generator policy and any other requested information. Sell firewood if applicable. Registration tag to be posted on the number post with date of departure clearly posted.
**Reservations**:
- Sign into the reservation system daily to print and post daily incoming reservations on the information board where required. Complete any no show customers through the reservation system as requested. Modify or cancel reservations when requested or inform office administration.
**Security Patrol**:
- When sites and all other duties have been completed, regular sweeps of the campgrounds and day use areas are made either by driving or on foot. The objective is to be seen patrolling as often as possible and to ensure that all customers are having a positive experience. Enforcement of policies where needed. If there is a disagreement with a park policy the employee is expected to be able to listen empathetically and then calmly explain the reasons for the policy and enforce it. If required the dissatisfied customer will be directed to the appropriate channel for further action.
