**DESCRIPTION: QUALIFIED CANDIDATE FOR MACHINIST TRAINEE POSITION**

Since 1965, this Hamilton-based, family-owned company has provided complete comprehensive fabrication, industrial machining and mechanical & electrical assembly services to a wide range of industries, in addition to heavy industrial machining refurbishment and rail car repair. This company prides itself on quality service, efficient delivery and reasonable pricing, and they are looking to grow their operations.
- Operation of CNC and Conventional machines as directed by the **_MACHINE SHOP SUPERVISOR and other duties as specified;_**
- **Becoming Proficient** at the Reading and Interpreting of Assembly and Detail Drawings;
- Operation of cranes, forklifts and other equipment as directed **_MACHINE SHOP SUPERVISOR;_**
- Bench work, assembly & disassembly as directed by the **_MACHINE SHOP SUPERVISOR;_**
- Set Up of CNC and Conventional machines as directed by the **_MACHINE SHOP SUPERVISOR after proving themselves;_**
- Programming of CNC machines as directed by the **_MACHINE SHOP SUPERVISOR after proving themselves; _**
- Assisting in maintenance (Mechanical Aptitude and Troubleshooting) **_after proving themselves;_**
- Learning ALL Company procedures relating to QC and ensuring all manufactured and purchased products meet specification through inspection.

**_Desired Qualities Include:_**
- **Hands-On Experience in a Metalworking/Machining Environment or Educational Equivalent, i.e., Pre-Apprenticeship Training at Community College;**
- **The Ability to read precision measuring instruments including verniers, micrometers etc.;**
- **Operation of CNC or Conventional Lathes and Mills;**
- **Some knowledge of Speeds and Feeds in metalworking;**
- **Good communication skills (THIS IS CRUCIAL), in written and spoken English;**
- **Some knowledge about Industrial Processes;**
- **A willingness to learn quickly and show initiative;**
- **A willingness to pitch in wherever needed while learning;**
- **A willingness to show some flexibility concerning their hours; i.e. starting/staying late or working some additional hours as required.**

**While our organization values Learning and Professional Development, becoming a Registered Apprentice with the goal of becoming a Certified Machinist is not guaranteed, but may be considered after a probationary period is finished.**
