**About Us**: Oceanic Support Services is a respite services provider for children/youth and counselling services to individual, couples, families facing challenges in their dailey lives. We specialize in offering respite care that enhances the quality of life for children with special needs and provides essential support to their families as well as counselling services to resolve psychological problems in a non-judgemental way.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Children's Respite Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide direct care and support to children with developmental disabilities or special needs in a home-based or community setting. Your responsibilities will include:
- Engaging children in stimulating activities and play that promote social interaction, cognitive development, and physical well-being.
- Implementing individualized care plans and behavioural strategies developed by supervisors or healthcare professionals.
- Assisting with daily living activities such as feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
- Monitoring and documenting the child's progress, behaviours, and responses to interventions.
- Collaborating effectively with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure continuity of care and support.
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in all interactions and activities.
**Qualifications**:
- Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Social Service Work, Autism, Special Education, or related field preferred.
- Experience working with children with developmental disabilities or special needs is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of child development, behaviour management techniques, and therapeutic interventions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with children and families.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a compassionate and patient demeanour.
- VSC, CPR and First Aid certification, Crisis Intervention Prevention skill/certificate (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).
- Valid driver's license (preferred) or reliable transportation (mandatory).

**Education**:
- Secondary School (preferred)
**Experience**:
- working directly with children with special need: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- G2 (preferred)
