Nurturing Behaviours Inc. provides ABA & respite services to children & youth 2-18 years of age. Our respite services are provided within families homes, community locations, or our centre. Respite services are a completely separate service than our ABA therapy. Our goal is to provide respite services so parents/guardians can have a break to prevent burnout, as well as to provide the child/youth with a fun & safe environment. This position is a contract based role, that is part time. The role will require evenings & weekends & potentially holidays, with more potential daytime hours throughout the summer. There will be the opportunity for this position to become employee based, as well as to grow into more hours etc. This job is flexible, and can be worked around the respite workers schedule (perfect for students, or those looking for an additional part time job for evenings & weekends).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to children & youth with developmental or physical disabilities
  • Provide transportation to the individual during respite (Ex: travel to a park, our Centre, etc.)
  • Planning activities and outings for youth in collaboration with caregivers
  • Updating availability monthly
  • Communicate well with families, the Respite Coordinator, and other team members.
  • Update communication log and time sheets following respite hours
  • Submit communication logs and time sheets to the Respite Coordinator

Skill/Qualifications:

  • Experience providing support to individuals with a disability
  • Experience with personal care i.e. feeding and toileting
  • Experience working with children
  • Patient and reliable
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Education and training in a related field
  • Access to a reliable vehicle (must provide proof of license & insurance)
  • Clean driver's abstract
  • Current copy of a clean criminal record & vulnerable sector search
  • Standard First Aid Certification & some version of Safe Management Training (must provide proof of both; if applicant does not already have this, training can be provided).

About the job:

  • Flexible schedules, afternoons, early mornings, evening and weekends, holiday workers needed
  • Travel is involved to locations such as Strathroy, Lucan, Mt. Brydges, London, St. Thomas, and Tilsonburg

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
