As a Multicultural Family Support Worker in our Surrey program, you will provide in-home support to parent(s) of children with support needs referred by the Ministry for Children and Family Development. The objective of the Family Support Worker is to develop and maintain professional and supportive relationships with families which are consistent with the program goals including but not limited to case management, parent training (practical and emotional support), services coordination, and parenting implementation of interventions.

**Hours**: 40 hours per week, flexible days/times to accommodate the needs of the families served. Hours may include some evenings/weekends based on caseload and availability

**Wage**: $25.00-$28.00/hr, plus vacation and benefits.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary diploma or degree in the human services field
- Prior experience working with families with children with support needs
- Prior experience working with multicultural populations
- Hold a valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License
- Must complete an acceptable Criminal Record Search report
- Must hold a current First Aid and CPR certificate (we will train those who require this)
- Must hold a current CPI certificate (we will train those who require this)
- Must demonstrate clear, direct and sensitive verbal and written communication skills
- Must demonstrate experience dealing with parent education, strategy development, mediation, counseling, advocacy, community networking, and life skills management
- Must be able to work collaboratively with community resources and within a team setting
- Ability to speak Punjabi or Filipino an asset

**A sample of what you’ll be doing**:

- To develop and maintain professional and supportive relationships with families which are consistent with the program goals.
- To provide assessment and service planning, integrated case management, service navigation, parent education groups and peer support activities.
- To provide goal-focused services delivered in community, in office and in family homes.
- To deliver group parent training and education and identify common issues affecting multiple families.
- To support client(s) in areas involving parent/child and crisis management.
- To complete various administrative duties, which includes: monthly reports and stats, initial three-week assessments, critical incident reports, regular progress reports, and discharge reports.
- To provide integrated case planning and management. To maintain collaborative working relationships with collateral agents and community resources.
- To provide supportive reports and updates to referring social workers that aid their decision-making process for child placement planning.
- To provide parenting education/programming, accessing community resources and advocacy for clients.
- To be knowledgeable of parenting support resources/programs available within the community.
