Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller will be responsible for assisting in the financial operations of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and payroll and benefits administration. The Controller will work closely with the CFO to ensure the financial stability and growth of the company.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Oversee day-to-day full-cycle accounting and finance functions.
- Assist in the annual budget process, strategic planning, and forecasting.
- Proactively provide timely, insightful, actionable, and accurate, financial reporting, analysis, and recommendations to key areas in the company.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and laws.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis to support the growth of the business and identify opportunities for efficiency and improvement.
- Manage and comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Develop and manage relationships with financial institutions, insurance providers, private equity, external auditors and tax and other consultants.
- Support financial management of both Canadian and U.S. entities.
- Responsible for contract management, review and execution.
- Provide leadership and oversight to financial department staff.
- Additional duties as required.
**Skills and Experience**
- Undergraduate degree in finance and/or accounting.
- CPA designation.
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar role (strategic finance, corporate finance, investment banking, private equity, consulting, corporate development).
- Strong understanding of accounting standards/principles and government regulations.
- Canadian tax expertise.
- Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities and drive projects to completion.
- Self-motivated and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem solving, relationship building and communication skills.
- Experience with accounts payable, cash projection and cash management functions and banking-related processes.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks.
