In support of the Faculty of Science (both central and departmental units), the Science IT (SciTech) team is responsible for a wide range of web, communication and information technology services.

**Job Summary**:
Responsible for coordinating resources and developing and managing digital media projects. Facilitates research and plans and executes strategies for the effective use of media and technology in a department, faculty, or academic program.

**Purpose and Key Functions**:

- Develop and present project proposals to persuade project stakeholders to follow a specific media and technology solutions within the context of academic quality or fiscal responsibility.
- Coordinate resources to complete digital media projects.
- Design, negotiate, and maintain cost-recovery strategies and service contracts for media services provided to the University.
- Ensure delivery of numerous, simultaneous digital media projects.
- Prioritize activities and organize staff and resources required to complete tasks.
- Develop estimates of time, resources, and budgets required for various activities, events, and projects.
- Provide digital media services to the University population.
- Develop and implement website content.
- Consult on web development practices and content development that can impact the availability, accessibility, and quality of content delivered through websites, learning management systems, e-learning modules and promotional videos.
- Develop website structures and content for a variety of courses and programs.
- Design course media content requiring an understanding of copyright law and various audio-visual fundamentals.
- Write documentation on best practices for e-learning, video production, and interactive design for use by faculty, staff, and other media specialists.
- Produce media artifacts using a variety of multilingual computing tools, acquisition devices, and collaborative discussions.
- Research and determine best practices for delivering online lectures.
- Provide consultation to help develop, maintain and monitor media projects.
- Participate in budgeting and expense analysis.
- Perform financial transactions for media services provided to the University.
- Budget, purchase, and track physical and digital assets.
- Develop and maintain release schedules for lectures.
- Design, create and deliver training, courses, and workshop materials for the University on behalf of the department.
- Coordinate and execute media events for the University.
- Participate in roundtables, committees, working groups, and contributes to policy development in media and information technology at the University.
- Liaise with project stakeholders, collect information on project requirements, deadlines and resources.
- Provide advice on course structure and operation.
- Provide training to educational support staff on proper use of technology and website usage.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
- Respond to inquiries and requests for course information.
- Remain current with frequent changes on evolving and emerging best practices related to business and education.

**Supervision**:
Supervise and direct the activities of up to 4 continuing employees.

**Requirements**:
Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, Multimedia, or related field.
Requires 4 years of relevant experience, including 1 year of supervisory experience.
