**Salary**: $3,076.28 to $4,053.05 bi-weekly ( $80,290 - $105,784/year)
Forestry and Parks - Responsible for growing our manufactured wood products and forestry sector, preserving, and managing our public lands and parks, and managing sustainable use of fish and wildlife.. **Role Responsibilities**:

The Hunting and Fishing Branch is seeking a dynamic Policy Analyst to lead the development of innovative, evidence-based policies that balance ecological sustainability with the diverse values and needs of Albertans. This is your chance to have a meaningful impact on provincial policy while working at the intersection of conservation, public engagement, and legislative development.
As a Policy Analyst, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing integrated fish and wildlife policies, legislation, and regulatory frameworks. Supporting all programs within the Hunting and Fishing Branch, this position blends traditional fish and wildlife management policy work with meaningful engagement, incorporating human dimensions and social science insights into every stage of policy development. Your work will directly contribute to the long-term stewardship and sustainable use of Alberta’s natural resources.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development of provincial policy and regulations under the _Wildlife Act_, _Fisheries (Alberta) Act_, and federal _Fisheries Act_.
- Collaborating with Strategic Services and Environmental Law on drafting and amending legislation.
- Conducting policy research, legislative analysis, and jurisdictional scans to assess regulatory gaps and opportunities.
- Preparing Cabinet submissions, regulatory impact analyses, and cost-benefit assessments.
- Coordinating Indigenous consultation, stakeholder engagement, and industry roundtables.
- Integrating social science and human dimensions data into fish and wildlife management.
- Participating in national and cross-jurisdictional research and policy networks.
- Leading projects that generate and mobilize knowledge relevant to the sustainable use of fish, game animals, and fur-bearers.
- Advising senior management through strategic briefings and policy recommendations.
- Creating and leveraging networks with stakeholders and communities of practice to support interdisciplinary policy work.

**Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience**:
A four-year bachelor’s degree in environmental science, wildlife or fisheries management sciences, environmental social scieces, geography or a related field, along with a minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in fish and wildlife conservation management in an interdisciplinary capacity.
Experience should include one or more of the following: research, analysis, policy development, stakeholder engagement, regulatory development, or operational management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and experience with various approaches to sustainable use principles for fish and wildlife and how this integrates into broader conseravtion management is highly desirable.
Equivalency: Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.
