As the health, safety, and environment manager, you will direct the HSE activities of the Measurement and Analytics Canada division for our Quebec City site. With your expertise and leadership, you will play a key role in promoting and developing ABB's health, safety and environment (HSE) culture. Reporting to the director of the Quebec City site and relevant to the global function of the business division, you will support management in the implementation of ABB standards in matters of HSE and you will ensure compliance with the local standards in force. Through employee training and regular field presence, you will ensure a good understanding of the HSE policies, standards, programs, and practices. In addition to internal support within the Quebec City team, the incumbent will have many opportunities to interact and collaborate with ABB Canada's HSE team.
**Your responsibilities**:
- Act as the primary health, safety, and environment contact for the Quebec City site.
- Manage the HSE management system (ABB Way) in place for the Quebec City site.
- Facilitate the assessment of HSE risks, ensuring that all the processes and corrective measures are implemented.
- Make recommendations and propose clear action plans to the management team in order to maintain HSE standards and norms.
- Help define the annual HSE budget, monitor and manage performance against the approved objectives and budgets.
- Plan and execute HSE projects, manage the resources, and report on objectives and progress.
- Create and maintain an exemplary health and safety culture and a strong environmental orientation.
- Plan and implement the HSE internal audit and actively participate in the audit of the division.
- Facilitate and coordinate the activities of the health and safety committee.
- Prepare performance reports on prevention programs to communicate results to all the internal stakeholders.
- Implement and deliver various training programs and coordinate other HSE training and coaching sessions (for example, observations and comments on tasks, inspections, prevention and control of spills and discharges, and other).
- Draw up and present the various reports in order to monitor the objectives of the organization, communicate the results of the HSE performance to the various parties.
- Report and investigate HSE incidents, gather feedback, and share the lessons learned and best practices.
- Interact with the various stakeholders to raise their awareness of sustainable development goals of the ABB Group.
- Ensure that the appropriate HSE equipment and tools are available and used, plan the training of colleagues, and ensure compliance with the Group’s management system.
**Your background**:
- College/university diploma in environment, occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene and/or certification or relevant diploma.
- Have solid experience in health and safety in an industrial environment.
- Bilingualism English and French essential.
- Excellent knowledge of the applicable HSE laws, regulations, and standards and of manufacturing risks (machine and electrical safety, lockout, work at height, ergonomics, etc.).
- Experience with implementing and maintaining HSE management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Extensive knowledge of implementing and maintaining machine safety programs, lockout, working at height, confined space, industrial hygiene.
- Ability to work effectively at all levels of the company.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, proactive approach, and an agent of change through informal influence.
- Ability to manage complex problems and to work in multidisciplinary teams.
- Collaborative, solution-oriented approach.
- Demonstrate proven spoken and written communication skills.
