Thompson Construction Group has an immediate opening for a WCB Specialist in their head office located in Spruce Grove. Reporting to the Corporate Health and Safety Manager, the WCB Specialist would be responsible for assisting employees on behalf of the employer when the employee is off work, or at risk of being off work, due to a workplace injury. This position involves assessing barriers to support the employee to return to work or develop an appropriate alternative plan.

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage workplace injury claims, minimizing time-loss and claim through early prevention and proactive coordination of services
- Interpreting provincial worker’s compensation legislation, policies and procedures
- Educate employers and workers about injury prevention through the WCB prevention department.
- Assist the company in developing and implementing safety and prevention programs.
- Provide services to facilitate health care to an injured worker
- Assist employers to develop and implement workplace return-to-work programs and individual return-to-work plans to accommodate injured workers, as required by law.
- Liaison with provincial Workers’ Compensation Boards

**Qualifications**:

- 3-5 years of experience in Worker’s Compensation Claims capacity at WCB
- Clear understanding of the Workers Compensation Principles and System
- 2-5 years of experience in earthworks construction and/or oil & gas projects
- Knowledge of Worksafe BC is considered an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- CSTS/OSSA, BSO or CSO Certification
- Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
