Overall Accountability

The Communications Specialist oversees the maintenance and daily content development of Calgary Catholic’s internal website assets, manages district social media platforms, creates and posts video content, provides additional communications planning and writing support and assists in the coordination of Communications-led events.

Specific Accountabilities
- Manages the internal website, assists with the external site and liaises with content owners.
- Manages district social media accounts, provides direction to schools and trustees with social media efforts and maintains district social media guidelines.
- Films, edits and posts regular Chief’s Vlogs highlighting district initiatives. Supports other district video series.
- Plans, researches, writes and edits complex communication materials for print and online.
- Develops and implements comprehensive communications plans and strategies for internal clients.
- Prepares a wide variety of communication pieces for both internal and external audiences, including newsletters, brochures, notices and publicity materials.
- Assists with the writing of speeches, letters and greetings.
- Helps maintain Calgary Catholic visual identity standards through all internal and external communications.
- Works directly with schools to exchange information and raise awareness about innovative programs, initiatives and events.
- Plans, implements, and provides communication support for special events and meetings.

Qualifications
- Degree in communications or a related field
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in communications and public relations
- Experience working with a content management system and online communications technology.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills.
- Skilled with social media platforms and filming/editing/posting video content.
- Ability to articulate and present complex information in a clear, concise, and compelling manner, oral and written.
- Adaptable to unexpected and changing priorities.
