**The Opportunity**

McMaster’s Faculty of Humanities is seeking a forward-thinking, student-centered, and collaborative leader to serve as Assistant Dean, Undergraduate Studies. This is a pivotal role for someone who can champion the unique strengths of Humanities while contributing to institution-wide progress and innovation.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead the development and implementation of academic policies, advising models, and student support services that are inclusive and data-informed.
- Represent the Faculty and collaborate on university-wide committees and working groups, contributing to cross-functional initiatives and shared governance in areas of enrolment, advising, and student engagement.
- Guide the continuous improvement of advising services, including the integration of self-service tools and digital platforms, in partnership with university IT and other stakeholders.
- Serve as a key decision-maker on academic matters, including petitions, accommodations, and curriculum planning.
- Supervise and mentor a diverse team of student service professionals, fostering a culture of equity, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Lead and support strategic recruitment efforts—both domestic and international—by working closely with colleagues in the Faculty and across the organization to ensure that outreach, admissions, and enrolment strategies reflect the evolving demographics, interests, and expectations of prospective students.

**Qualifications**
- A graduate degree in a relevant field; specialized training in higher education leadership or student development is an asset.
- Five years of progressive leadership experience in a higher education setting, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in academic advising, curriculum planning, student engagement, and strategic enrolment management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools and student information systems (e.g., CRM, Slate, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Deep understanding of academic policies, student development theory, and the higher education landscape.
